JAROSŁAW AUGUSTYNIAK

Jarosław Augustyniak urodził się w Łodzi w 1965 roku. Muzyczną edukację rozpoczął w wieku 9 lat od nauki gry na fortepianie. Z fagotem zetknął się mając lat 12; wtedy to rozpoczął naukę gry na tym instrumencie w Państwowym Liceum Muzycznym im. H. Wieniawskiego w Łodzi, w klasie prof. Stefana Szczecha. W 1988 roku z wyróżnieniem ukończył Łódzką Akademię Muzyczną w klasie fagotu i muzyki kameralnej pod kierunkiem prof. Stanisława Sojki. Rok później został laureatem XXI Konkursu Młodych Instrumentalistów we Włoszakowicach, zdobywając jednocześnie nagrodę specjalną Wielkopolskiej Orkiestry Symfonicznej. Pogłębił swoje studia na fagocie u prof. Vincenzo Menghini - RAI Turyn. Jarek został przyjęty na pozycję pierwszego fagocisty BBC National Orchestra of Wales w grudniu 2004 roku. Został członkiem „BBC NOW" po trzynastu latach kierowania sekcją fagotów w Basque National Orchestra Hiszpania. W swojej karierze grał jako pierwszy fagocista w Nova Filharmonia Portuguesa, w Teatrze Wielkim w Łodzi oraz jako fagocista Filharmonii Narodowej w Warszawie.
Jego życie zawodowe pokierowało go poprzez Portugalię i Hiszpanię do Wielkiej Brytanii, a ostatnio do Danii. Miał okazję grać w większości europejskich krajów oraz w USA, Argentynie i Chile - w ponad 300 salach koncertowych, włączając Wiedeń Konzerthaus, Zurich Tonhalle, Madryt Auditorio Nacional, Londyn Royal Albert Hall, Amsterdam Concertgebouw, Berlin Konzerthaus, Buenos Aires Teatro Colon. Grał pod batutą wielkich dyrygentów: Rudolf Barshai, Richard Hickox, Witold Lutosławski, Yehudi Menuhin, Libor Pesek, Jerzy Semkow, Gianandrea Noseda, Nicholas Kraemer, Tadaaki Otaka, Krzysztof Penderecki, Walter Weller, Witold Rowicki, Vassily Sinaisky.
Udziela się również aktywnie jako solista z bardzo bogatym repertuarem. Mozart, Weber, Escudero, Françaix, Jolivet, Vivaldi, D.Knotts, F.Martin, R.Strauss, Elgar. Koncertował z Łomżyńską Orkiestrą Kameralną, turne z Nova Filarmonia Portuguesa, z Basque National Orchestra - San Sebastián, z Sinfonietta Académica Navarra oraz z BBC National Orchestra of Wales. Następny projekt z tą orkiestrą to Andre Jolivet i Sofia Gubaildulina - Concertos.
W ciągu swojej kariery Jarek został członkiem European Jeunesses Musicales, Orkiestry Festiwalowej „Sinfonia Helvetika" oraz współpracował z Dortmunder Philharmoniker, Filharmonią Łódzką im. Artura Rubinsteina, Bilbao Orquesta Sinfonica, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, Welsh National Opera, Royal Scottisch National Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, BBC Philharmonic, Orchestra of the Royal Opera House Covent Garden i Philharmonia Orchestra London.
Jego zainteresowanie muzyką kameralną doprowadziło do założenia wielu grup instrumentalnych, m. in. ensemble „Quinteto Barroco" i kwintetu dętego „Alizé". W Wielkiej Brytanii został członkiem BBC NOW Soloists oraz „Quintillion Ensemble". W 2007 roku nagrał CD z tym zespołem. Brał udział w większych europejskich festiwalach muzycznych - Warszawska Jesień, Praska Wiosna, Schleswig-Holstein oraz BBC PROMS Festival.
Jarek wykorzystuje swoje doświadczenie w pracy pedagogicznej. Już w 1989 roku kierował grupą instrumentów dętych w orkiestrze Ogólnokształcącej Szkoły Muzycznej im. H. Wieniawskiego w Łodzi. Następnie poprowadził wiele „klas mistrzowskich" w Polsce, Portugalii, Hiszpanii i Wielkiej Brytanii. Był odpowiedzialny za sekcję fagotów w Basque Youth Orchestra oraz sekcję instrumentów dętych drewnianych w Młodzieżowej Orkiestrze Regionalnej w Murcji, Hiszpania. Grał koncerty pedagogiczne jako solista z BBC NOW (D. Knotts - Miniconcerto for bassoon) oraz z wieloma zespołami kameralnymi w różnych krajach Europy. Uczy w klasie fagotu w University of Bristol. Jest zapraszany regularnie do pracy ze studentami z Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama oraz prowadzi grupę dętą Orkiestry Symfonicznej Welsh University w Cardiff.

Jarek Augustyniak was born in Łódź, Poland. He started his musical education on the piano at the age of 9. However, he began his journey with the bassoon at 12 in the H. Wieniawski Secondary Music School in Łódź under Professor Stefan Szczech. In 1988 he graduated with distinction from the Academy of Music in Łódź, Poland with a Masters degree in Bassoon and Chamber Music under Professor Stanisław Sojka. A year later he was a laureate in the XXI Competition of Young Instrumentalists in Włoszakowice while simultaneously winning the special award from Wielkopolska Symphony Orchestra. Jarek furthered his studies under the guidance of Vincenzo Menghini - RAI Turin.
Jarek was appointed as Principal Bassoon of the BBC National Orchestra of Wales in December 2004. He joins BBC National Orchestra of Wales after a thirteen year post as Principal Bassoon with the Basque National Orchestra, Spain. In his career Jarek has played Principal Bassoon with the Nova Filarmonia Portuguesa, Łódź Opera Symphony Orchestra and in the Warsaw National Philharmonic.
His professional life had lead him to move from Poland, through Portugal and Spain into the United Kingdom and recently to Denmark. He has been given an opportunity to play in almost all European countries and as far afield as the USA, Argentina and Chile - in over 300 venues including Wien Konzerthaus, Zurich Tonhalle, Madrid Auditorio Nacional, London Royal Albert Hall, Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Berlin Konzerthaus, Amsterdam Concertgebouw, Buenos Aires Teatro Colon. He has played under the baton of such great conductors as Rudolf Barshai, Richard Hickox, Witold Lutosławski, Yehudi Menuhin, Tadaaki Otaka, Krzysztof Penderecki, Walter Weller, Vassily Sinaisky and Witold Rowicki.
In addition, Jarek has fostered an active solo career, with the Łomża Chamber Orchestra (1987 - Mozart), tour with Nova Filarmonia Portuguesa (1992 - Mozart), Basque National Orchestra, San Sebastián (1996 - Weber, 1997 and 1998 - Escudero, 2001 - Françaix) and with Sinfonietta Académica Navarra (2000 - Vivaldi), BBC NOW (2005 - Weber, 2006 - Knotts and 2007 - R.Strauss, 2010 - F. Martin, Elgar - Romance op.62 for BBC Radio3). The next solo projects with BBC NOW: Gubaidulina's and Jolivet's bassoon concertos.

During his career Jarek has been a member of the European Jeunesses Musicales, Festival Orchestra "Sinfonia Helvetica" and a collaborator with the Dortmunder Philharmoniker, "Arthur Rubinstein" Philharmonic Orchestra, Łódź Radio Orchestra, Bilbao Symphony Orchestra, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, Royal Scottish National Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Welsh National Opera, BBC Philharmonic, Orchestra of the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden and Philharmonia Orchestra.
His interest in chamber music has driven him to be a founding member of the ensemble "Quinteto Barroco" and the wind quintet "Alizé". In the United Kingdom he is a member of BBC NOW Soloists and "Quintillion Ensemble". In 2007 he recorded a CD with this group. He collaborates with The Haffner Wind Quintet and Ensemble MidtVest. His solo compact disc recording with the Basque National Orchestra includes a - "Sinfonia Sacra" of Francisco Escudero.

He has participated in major European music festivals including "Warsaw Autumn", "Prague Spring", "Schleswig-Holstein", and the BBC PROM Festival.
His teaching experience commenced in 1989 working with the woodwind group in the H. Wieniawski Secondary Music School in Łódź. Subsequently Jarek has given numerous master classes in Poland, Portugal and Spain. He was responsible of the bassoon section in the Basque Country Youth Orchestra and the woodwinds section in the Murcia Region Youth Orchestra. He has given educational concerts as a soloist with BBC NOW and with chamber groups in various European countries. He is teaching at University of Bristol; collaborating regularly with the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama and working with the woodwind section of Cardiff University Symphony Orchestra. Jarek is also organizing in Poland yearly summer masters courses "Ventus Optimus" for woodwinds.
In his spare time Jarek takes a keen interest in sports, especially football and he has scored a few runs and wickets for the BBC NOW Cricket Team. He is a proud father of two sons Damian, Kosma and daughter Jasmin. His partner is the viola player Anne Soren. They live in Cardiff and Copenhagen.
